The correct way to load a car trailer
Moving house? Clearing backyard rubble? Going on holiday? No matter what the case, when you need to move a large quantity of objects, car transport is the way to go; and the best way to go about this is to use a trailer.
When using a trailer you soon discover there is a fine art in the packing. Often you can save valuable time and even cut out multiple trips in your car transport, by utilizing the correct packaging procedures. The most important factor to take into account is the weight of the objects you will be transporting, by distributing this weight evenly you will ensure a smooth travel experience. Remember to place heavy items low down near the axle, if you place too many heavy items behind the axle this could adversely affect the balance of the trailer and potentially lose control of the trailer. Once the heavy items have been secured you can evenly distribute the medium weight items across the space, finally ending off with the lighter weight items. Be sure to load the trailer evenly from side to side as you pack, to prevent an uneven distribution of weight to one side.
Does your trailer incorporate permanent fixtures such as refrigerators, microwaves, etc? Be sure to take these into account when packing and remember to adjust for the added weight on those sides. Always bear the trailers’ Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) in mind and pack sensibly, this guideline is an important safety indication.
And there you go, you’re set; all you need now is to find a willing friend to help you move, good luck.
